Dear Ciett members,

I am pleased to announce you that the Ciett Board has appointed Horacio De Martini as the new Ciett President and Fred van Haasteren as the new Ciett Vice-President.

These two positions were vacant following the end of the term of Joel Biller as Ciett President last May, and the resignation from Philippe Marcel from the vice-presidency last June.

These two appointments will have to be ratified by the Ciett General Assembly, to be held on October 23rd in San Diego (USA) during the Ciett annual conference. As stipulated in the Ciett constitution, a Nominating Committee, chaired by Aart van der Gaag, will review these two applications prior to putting them forward to the General Assembly.

In the meantime, Horacio and Fred will be acting on behalf of Ciett respectively as “President Elect” and “Vice-President Elect”. Along with the secretariat, they are to prepare a “Ciett strategic work plan” that will be presented to  Ciett members in San Diego.

Horacio De Martini, 66, has been a Ciett Board member for several years, representing South America. Horacio has been working in the industry for 41 years. He is today in charge of Manpower’s operations in South America (20 countries, 200 branches, sales revenues of $600 million).

Fred van Haasteren, 58, has also been a Ciett Board member for several years. He started working in the agency work business in 1978 and is now heading Randstad’s Global Corporate Affairs department (being Randstad Holding’s Executive Vice-President and chair of the Board of Randstad Nederland). Fred was also the president of Eurociett until 2004.
